Khoa Lai

Khoa Lai

Khoa Lai is a journalist and digital content producer from Vietnam. After earning his BA in Journalism from California State University–Long Beach, he has been telling stories that both inform and empower—whether through traditional reporting or inventive digital formats.

As a former reporter for VnExpress, Khoa covered a broad range of social and economic issues in Vietnam, from culture and fashion to macroeconomic trends and trade. He also created original stories tailored to the interests and needs of the Vietnamese diaspora and expatriate communities.

One of his recent works at Radio Free Asia, before the layoff, was an in-depth multimedia report on the migration route from Vietnam to the United States through the dangerous Darién Gap.

“Even in the face of challenges, I’ve learned that good journalism finds a way,” Khoa says. "This fellowship gives me the platform to push that mission further.”
