Diing Magot is a South Sudanese journalist with five years of field experience as an international correspondent covering governance, security and civic life. Her work spans breaking news, accountability reporting and long-form interviews across digital and broadcast platforms.
She is a freelance journalist producing stories for international audiences, with a focus on on-the-ground reporting from South Sudan and the region. She previously reported for Voice of America, including coverage of conflict dynamics in the Abyei area, and has written for The National and The Washington Informer.
In August 2022, Magot was arrested in Juba while covering a protest over rising prices and economic hardship. She was held for several days and released on bail.
She was nominated for the Edward R. Murrow program facilitated through the International Visitor Leadership Program at the U.S. Department of State. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the National Writers Union and the National Press Club, and has written on press freedom and journalist safety, including coverage tied to the case of Austin Tice.
